Age – It’s just a number.
Where is it written that you have to look and act your age? Just because your favorite restaurant offers you the senior discount, or just because you turned 50 last week and suddenly your mailbox is flooded with AARP flyers – does that mean it’s time to slow down?
Or how about this one: maybe you have slowed down – and maybe you’ve put on a few pounds in the process – does that mean you have to stay that way?
Dr. Mimi here, and I want to challenge your thinking on aging. Just because society makes it clear when we become senior citizens, that doesn’t mean we have to think of ourselves that way.
(Read the US News and World Report I was featured in about this topic: When Do You Become a Senior Citizen)
Take me for example. At the age of 59, I decided I wanted to pursue a doctorate. While many of my friends were perfecting their golf swings, I was gearing up to do something most people only attempt in their 20s. At the same time, I decided it was time to get healthy and fit.
What about you? Are you letting society dictate what you can or can’t do? Are you tempted to think it’s too late to do anything to affect the way you look and feel?
Well, trust me when I say that age is just a number, and it’s never too late to begin to feel better. If you are in your 60s and you’ve battled unhealthy habits your whole life, NOW is the time to change those habits.
And I would love to show you how to do it. I want to show you that you can get healthy and fit at any age with small, attainable goals such as
- Getting exercise every day
- Making healthier eating choices
- Drinking plenty of water
Don’t let anyone put you in a box, least of all yourself! If you’re ready to get healthy and fit – regardless of your age – let’s work together on making small, sustainable changes so that you really can say that age is just a number!
