Fitness Goals,Manage Stress / November 17, 2020

We are living in tumultuous times.

Between coronavirus worldwide, changes in our day-to-day lives, and simply not knowing what is going to happen over the next year, we are all dealing with extreme stress.

Everyone manages stress differently. Some stress-management habits are helpful, while other habits can be harmful, even lethal.

Work, kids, daily household tasks – all of these are common sources of stress. But in today’s world, multitasking to combine work with taking care of kids while social distancing and worrying about the future can turn all those regular stressors into sources of extreme stress.

The effects of extreme stress include anxiety, depression, illness, poor sleep, eating issues, weight gain, loss of libido and elevated cortisol levels, which can be lethal. Elevated cortisol levels lead to increased risk of cardiovascular disease, lowered immune function, depression, mental illness, lower bone density, impaired memory, and shorter life expectancy.

Dealing with extreme stress is an important skill. But, what really works?

In today’s video, we will talk more about extreme stress and its effects on your physical and mental health. We will answer these three questions:

  1.  Can we create healthy habits, even in times of stress?
  2.  What role does self-care play in dealing with extreme stress?
  3. What are some of the unexpected benefits of developing healthy stress-management habits?

As we have all seen in 2020, there are no guarantees. Are you thinking “I’ll get healthy next January”? How about right now? What excuses are you making and which unhealthy habits can you change into healthy ones?

If you want to learn healthy ways of dealing with extreme stress, watch the video!
