Exercise,Fitness Goals / July 8, 2019

Do you have an injury or physical limitation that is holding you back from getting a good workout? Are you ready to jump back in to that group class you really LOVE, but you’re afraid that your injury will slow you down compared to everyone else?

Guess what? You may not know this but I have a couple of ongoing injuries that I’m dealing with too! As I was driving to CrossFit this morning, I caught myself feeling fearful and full of negative self-talk.

I said things like:

“Ugh, I’m going to be such an inconvenience to the coach.”

“People are going to ask me about my injury, and that’s going to make me emotional.”

“Why am I even doing this?”

Can you relate?

I’m telling you this because I know what it’s like to be fearful and I know what it’s like to compare myself others. The last thing I wanted that morning was to show up to CrossFit and not be able to do what everyone else was doing.

But, in a moment of clarity, I acknowledged my fears, and then I threw them out the window! I decided that I was going to do my personal best, whatever that means FOR ME, and not anyone else. I realized that I needed to self-advocate. for myself and what MY body could do.

And, guess what? The coach was totally awesome. He made modifications for me on each exercise, and substitutions when I needed them.

In this week’s video, I want to give you 3 strategies you can use to get a good workout even if you’re injured.

I’m going to break down:

  • How to self-advocate in your workout
  • What to do with FEAR
  • How to do your personal best without comparing yourself to others
If you’re ready to get a GREAT workout in even if you’re dealing with physical limitations, this video is for you!
